“Suki with The Pearl Earring”

My main inspiration for this piece was Sukihana herself. While many may not label Suki as an icon or see her as a positive influencer, I believe she has earned a solidified spot in what is known as “Hoochie Culture”. A term that was once villainized but has been reclaimed in recent years by the current generation. Sukihana is a beautiful black woman who is not ashamed of her sexuality. From her everchanging, yet desirable fashion sense and hair, to her comedic social media skits, Suki is making herself known. I chose to portray her this way because like Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl With The Pearl Earring”, I believe Suki’s beauty and influence will be remembered and referenced by future generations."
