“Spidey vs Venom vs Carnage”
Oil on canvas, 36 x 48 inches
"24 years ago my parents bought me a PlayStation so I could play my very first game: Spider-Man 2000. It was the very first of its kind. Nothing was cooler to me than playing Spider-Man, but Venom and Carnage had me paralyzed with fright and astonishment. Todd McFarlane birthed the visual of Venom, and Mark Bagley masterfully created Carnage. Carnage always stuck out to me as one of the most brilliant designs I have ever seen and had the pleasure of mindlessly doodling for the past 20 years. Carnage is terrifying and his introduction to me as the final boss, the hardest boss, with the sickest theme music cemented him in my mind as the ultimate villain.
Every time I look at carnage, I just hear that creepy voice from the video game. I can’t help but be fascinated by the things that also instilled fear and wonder in me as a child.
This painting was made purely for 5 year old me. I spent over 100 hours in 3 weeks bringing this chaos to life."
