"en otras palabras" explores a quiet language of love common in many immigrant families. For parents who rarely say “I’m sorry” or openly express difficult emotions, care is often communicated through actions instead of words. The simple act of cutting fruit becomes an unspoken apology. The quiet gesture replacing the loud disagreements. The apology was never declared but instead peeled, sliced and served on a hopeful clean slate.This piece reflects on generational differences in emotional expression, highlighting how love can be conveyed through everyday rituals when language, culture, and experiences make vulnerability difficult to articulate. It is a reflection on the apologies that never arrive. The absence of "I'm sorry".
