About the Event
Amazing event opportunity for photographers and filmmakers in Austin!
To kick off SXSW week (March 10–12, 2026), we're hosting "Portraits After Dark" at Riches Art Gallery—an unofficial, after-hours, art+film showcase designed to extend filmmaker visibility, conversation, and community outside traditional screening rooms.
Program elements include:
-Feature screenings + filmmaker commentary by Paul Sapiano (Driving While Black, The Boy & Girl’s Guide to Getting Down, Love at Poor Sight), plus a short film by Nina Kazé (Princess of Nowhere)
-Special Talks with The Texas Archive of The Moving Image and The Austin School of Film
-Opening exhibition reception featuring visual artists Stellina Stampouli, Dax Norman, and Paul Lewis
