About the Event
This type of art work is completed on location, while outdoors. Plein Air Art Event is open to all artists and photographers of any ages. Artists and photographers working in all accepted media and photography are welcome.
This particular class will be featured at an amazing two-story building that was once home to Reverend Jacob Fontaine’s Gold Dollar newspaper, one of the first black newspapers west of the Mississipi and one of forty-eight commercial black newspapers published in Texas between 1870 and 1900. The building is all that remains of the African American community of Wheatville, which once encompassed the area from 24th to 26th Streets and from Rio Grande Street to Shoal Creek in Austin.
We will explore the impact of this history while creating some beautiful artwork.
Class is free please RSVP.
