Walker Smith Jr., better known as Sugar Ray Robinson was born in 1921 in rural Ailey Georgia was an American boxer who competed from 1940 to 1965. He is often regarded as the greatest boxer of all time, pound-for-pound. He had a professional record of 129-1-2 with 85 knockouts. From 1943 to 1951 Robinson went on a 91 fight unbeaten streak, the sixth longest in professional boxing history. He held titles in the world welterweight and middleweight divisions. Known for his classy and flamboyant lifestyle outside the ring, Robinson is credited with the modern sports entourage and being the first celebrity boxer. He was also known for his immaculate dress. In 1950, Robinson purchased a pink (fuchsia) Cadillac sedan which created a controversy within itself.
