“Nothing on my Mind”

Graphite- 8"x11"

Everyone deserves to live a full and happy life, without feeling like a prisoner of their own thoughts. When I was diagnosed with Bipolar, I believed I was broken and that something was wrong with me. No one ever asked me how I was or what was going on inside. My mind had to work twice as hard to come up with solutions, and equally as hard to find the meaning behind it all. The parts of myself I didn't show, gave people the permission to misunderstand me. On the days I felt trapped In my mind, I had to remind myself that my brain is wired differently, and that I'm not like everyone else. I didn't know how to relate to people anymore, so when they ask what's on my mind, I'd eventually say "nothing."
